Short Story Published

Posted in Published/Upcoming Works with tags on October 16, 2009 by Ty

My first short story ever published was by Orion’s Child Magazine.  I return this month in the October issue as the featured author.  The name of the story is entitled, ‘The Ringmaster’ and was hailed by the Editor of OC as, “masterful and uber-creepy.”  To which I think you’ll agree once you’ve read it.

As a side note, this could possibly be the last free-to-read short story I have published for quite some time.  Not because I can’t get them published, but rather I have come to a point in my writing that in order for me to get paid, the magazine has to be sold.  So, take advantage of this free short story – it could be the last you see for awhile…or maybe not…gotta keep you guessing somewhat, don’t I?!

Click here to check out the cover of the new issue and HERE to read the story (strickly for archiving purposes on their site after this month).

As always, you can go to the Published Works page to check out everything I’ve had published and/or to read some of the free stuff that is out there.

Enjoy and let me know what you think!

Posted in Appearances with tags , on October 13, 2009 by Ty

Just a reminder that I’ll be signing books (and/or magazines) in the Bookstore (located in the Campus Center) at Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio on Friday, October 23rd from Noon – 1:30.  There will be a small supply of books on hand for you to buy, so if you’re in the area and want to stop by, I would suggest ordering a copy asap to ensure you have it in time (you can always bring in your own copy for me to sign).

Visit the Storefront to find out where you can pick up a copy.

The magazines retailed at the time they were on the store racks for $4.99 each (they sell back issues on their site for $6.00 each) and have around 160 pages in each mag.  So the value of the mags alone is around $20.00.  The below CD-Rom was given to me back in June (2009) at Hypericon 5 (convention) directly from the publisher.

How To Enter:

Send an email to me (ty_schwamberger@yahoo.com) with a Subject Line of ‘Fantasy & Science Fiction Contest’ along with your full name and mailing address.  Only one entry per person allowed.  If you do not send your full name and mailing address at the time of entry, your email will be deleted (so, no, I do not want another email stating, ‘I will send you my mailing address if I win’.).  Contest ends on October 30th at Midnight.  The winner will be notified on or about November 1st.

Good Luck!

Map Update

Posted in Blogging on October 3, 2009 by Ty

You might have noticed that the ClustrMap in the bottom right hand corner looks, well, rather empty.  I was wondering the same thing after I logged on today.  So, I researched it a bit and found the following explanation from the service provider:

The sudden disappearance of dots means that a regular archive has just occurred…this is a yearly occurance.  Old maps will remain available in a stored archive, which is accessible as follows: when you zoom in to the world map, you’ll see (high on the page) a line labelled:

Navigation: Map with smaller clustrs / Maps Archive / Notes, etc

The second link (Map Archive) will take you to the page where the previous thumbnail map is stored.

So, if it’s your first time here and you want to see where hits occurred last year or just didn’t check it out prior to September 30th, follow the above instructions and see it for yourself.

Novella project update & a new project annoucement

Posted in Blogging with tags , , on September 29, 2009 by Ty

As you know, I have been working with Misty Gersely & Adam Lewis to produce three different novellas based on a common theme of ‘a doctor makes a house call’.  Adam and my novellas have been completed for some time and Misty’s will be done by mid-October.  At which point the entire manuscript will be sent to another author (who you’ll know by name, but I can’t mention who he is quite yet) for review and to write an introduction for the future book.  At that time, we will decide who to send the manuscript to for possible publication.

Now, onto something new…

Tom Erb, Dean Harrison (two great friends and talented up-and-comers) and I have decided to do a similiar project, as well.  Though the theme has yet to be decided, I wanted to tell you that it will also be a total of 3 novellas, based on a common theme, where each of us takes the storyline in our individual stories in our own creative way.  Should be a lot of fun and I am looking forward to it!  More to come as the project develops.

Suspense Magazine to publish novelette

Posted in Published Works with tags , on September 26, 2009 by Ty

Now you’ll have three months in a row with new stuff from me to read (my short ‘The Ringmaster’ will come out next month in Orion’s Child Magazine).

John Raab, the editor at Suspense Magazine, has informed me that my novelette (about 13k words), ‘All in the Line of Duty’, has been accepted for publication as a serialized story and will run in their November & December 2009 issues.  I don’t want to give too much away, but the story is essentially about a cop making a deal with the Devil to bring his freshly slain family back to life so he can see them one last time.  Very Edward Lee-ish, if I had to classify it.

More details will be released once available.
